For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” … Ephesians 2:10
Welcome to the first edition of the webpage for the Northwest Centre for Leadership Development. In March, 2003, the Theological Education Taskforce issued an executive summary of ways to enhance the effectiveness of pastoral training in Fellowship Baptist churches. The first and primary recommendation addressed the issue of Ministry Leadership Development: that the Seminary [Northwest Baptist Seminary] and FEBBCY expand their focus and adopt the integrative, competency-based model for ministry leadership development…
While the Taskforce identified 15 actions steps, the key initiative was to create the Northwest Centre for Leadership Development: to foster a life-long approach to the formation of leaders through networking Fellowship churches with leadership educational resources.
In September, 2003, I was honored to join the staff of Northwest Baptist Seminary as the first director of NCFLD. It has been an exciting course of discovery as I’ve sought to make sense of the purpose and contribution that the Centre can have as we converge the mission of the church and the resources of the Seminary.
This webpage is among the number of projects intended to help this process. It comes in a very simple format: Leadership Thoughts: a reflection on the unfolding issues of Leadership development… Leadership Events: publicizing opportunities for Leadership development… and Leadership Resources: presenting current resources found on the web or in the library that empower Leadership development.
As I continue to develop this page, I would encourage your participation. Ideas, Issues, Resources, Questions, Comments… all are welcome… You can e-mail me at lyle.schrag@twu.ca.
